How long has the (KGB/Mossad/any other foreign intelligence agency) known about the SSN algorithm? 

If a couple of academic researchers can decipher the Social Security Number algorithm (up to whatever randomization measures are used), I can only imagine how long foreign intelligence agencies (especially those of our enemies) have known about it. Frankly, I'm extremely impressed by their restraint.
