Periodic rant about managers not knowing how to use relief pitchers

Yankees playing at the Mets, bottom of the ninth, tie game. Joe Torre sends Tanyon Sturtze to pitch. Ok, fine...it's perfectly normal to put some chump on the mound in this situation, because you don't expect the other team to score. But then he walks a batter, gets a pop-out, walks a batter and hits a batter, and suddenly the bases are loaded with only one out.

If you desperately need a double play or a strikeout to avoid losing the game, why on earth would you not put Mariano Rivera in the game?
